A 28-year real estate veteran, Joe Brown is the president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage's Silicon Valley, Monterey Bay and East Bay regions. In his position, Brown oversees 28 offices and more than 1,800 sales associates. Brown assumed the position of President in April 2006. Prior to that, he served as managing broker of the company's San Jose Main and Willow Glen offices.
Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., Brown has lived and worked in the San Jose area most of his life. He began his real estate career in 1980 and earned his broker's license in 1986. In the early 1990s, Brown managed a small Contempo Realty office on Lincoln Avenue in San Jose which he quickly grew into a large profitable office, moved it to Meridian Avenue and enjoyed tremendous success recruiting and developing Agents.
Over the course of his career, Brown has owned and operated his own firm and was one of the first in Northern California to integrate a mortgage platform into his brokerage. Highly regarded as a top recruiter, Brown has been credited several times in his career with bringing in top real estate talent and ultimately expanding his company's operations.
In 2002, after returning to the Bay Area from a brief hiatus, Brown was brought in as the manager of two Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Willow Glen offices which had suffered a major loss in personnel. In just two years, he took the offices from 84 sales associates to more than 220. Of those recruits, many were ranked among the top 100 Agents in Silicon Valley.
As president, Brown has consistently held his offices in prominence. In one year, he increased market share in the Silicon Valley by four percent. As a result, he was asked to take over the East Bay region of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and oversee 10 additional offices in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties.
