In his role as senior vice president of strategic initiatives, Smith is responsible for defining, shaping and implementing innovative ways to leverage technology within the company, focusing on both sales enhancement programs and developmental programs for employees and agents. This role involves actively working with national and local senior management, marketing, IT, human resources and education to successfully ensure program identification, launch and ongoing execution. In addition, Smith oversees the company's relocation efforts on a national level.
Prior to that, he served as NRT's senior vice president for relocation & client development, coordinating the efforts of the 22 NRT relocation and client development service centers around the country as well as spearheading the company's new and existing Internet marketing initiatives with other NRT senior leadership members.
Smith began his real estate career in 1992 with Burnet Relocation as an account manager before quickly being promoted to vice president of client development in 1994. Three years later, he was promoted to president of Burnet Relocation. He additionally assumed the responsibilities of vice president for Coldwell Banker Burnet Home Services in 2000. He lead the creation and successful launch of the Coldwell Banker Burnet Home Resource Center in 2001, one of the industry's most cutting edge client service centers and a model for internet client development.
Smith is a charter member of the Google Real Estate Advisory Board. He also is a member of the Employee Relocation Council (ERC), holds the Certified Relocation Specialist (CRP) designation and is a past board member of the Minnesota ERC Group. Smith received his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Florida and lives with his partner Gary Hilbert in South Orange, New Jersey.
