WASHINGTON, D.C. , January 14, 2014 – Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage today combined the brokerage operations of two of its companies -- Greater Baltimore and Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia. The newly combined company will now operate as Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in the Mid-Atlantic under the leadership of Dean Cottrill. Cotrill was most recently president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Baltimore. The decision is, in part, a result of the announcement that Paul Valentino, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia, is stepping down after a long and successful career. In his newly expanded role, Cottrill will be responsible for leading the brokerage’s 40 Mid-Atlantic sales and resort rental offices and the nearly 2,200 independent sales associates spanning Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania. In addition, the company has promoted both Shawn Guzzo, formerly regional vice president of sales for Baltimore, and Rick Hoffman, formerly branch vice president of the Georgetown office in Washington, D.C., to regional sales vice president roles for the newly combined Mid-Atlantic company. “The real estate industry, the economy and the marketplace have changed considerably in the past several years, so having the same leader over these two very intertwined markets is a smart business move,” said Kate Rossi, executive vice president of the southeast region for NRT LLC, parent company of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. “Dean has done a tremendous job guiding our Baltimore branches through some of the most challenging years in real estate history. I have a great deal of confidence in his leadership skills and proven track record, and am excited to have him in this new expanded leadership position. We thank Paul Valentino for his many years of service to our company.” Cottrill was appointed president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Baltimore in 2009. He was previously a branch manager with Long & Foster Real Estate and Weichert Realtors, and has been a successful and established member of the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore real estate communities since 1990 when he began his real estate career as a top-producing agent. He is the former president of the Anne Arundel Board of Realtors®, member of the National Association of Realtors® board of directors, and was named Realtor® of the Year by the Anne Arundel Association of Realtors® in 2006. “This is an incredible opportunity to guide one of the leading brokerages in the Mid-Atlantic region. We have one of the most talented and accomplished group of real estate agents in the region, and I look forward to working with them,” said Cottrill.
